No matter to what extent dentists are experienced in restoring the teeth form and color, poor treatment of root canals can within only one day null and void not only the attractive sight but your further comfort and health.

 Nowadays, aesthetic restoration in dentistry has reached great success and is widely advertised. Therefore, aesthetics has become, for the most patients, the main criterion of dentistry quality assessment. But won’t you agree that you will hardly enjoy the good look of a restored tooth if it soon starts aching. Non-qualitative treatment of root canals will finally lead to inflammatory diseases in the oral cavity and to early loss of teeth. Because of special importance of proper filling of canals, this direction has even been separated as a distinct area called endodontia.

Endodontia is a dentistry section studying issues of anatomy, pathology and methods of treatment of tooth cavity and root canals. Taken more widely, endodontia is understood as intervention into the inner tooth cavity with the purpose of its saving with further restoration of the form and all natural functions through some therapeutic or orthopedic method. As X-ray examinations show, in 75% of cases, tooth loss after treatment is associated with incomplete, excessive or even missing filling of canals.

There are the following main methods of canal filling: cold lateral gutta-percha condensation method and Thermofill method.

Today, the cold lateral gutta-percha condensation method is the most popular one in most of the dental clinics. Gutta-percha does not shrink, does not dissolve, repeats canal contours well, and this method is quite affordable. However, if the canal is extremely complicated, not all deltas and micro canals can be filled (i.e. the three-dimensional filling can’t be achieved).

The other method is filling of root canals with Thermofill system which is a conical flexible carrier rod, covered from above with heated gutta-percha. Its high fluidity provides good penetration into micro canals. Treatment with this method minimizes material shrinkage, since the main canal space is filled with central compressor rod.
